Added 2008-06-17 @ 6:30 p.m.. Quote: Reading: Watching: I called the company that has been charging my credit card for a service I didn't sign up for. (I signed up for something FREE) Here is how the conversation went (roughly): Representative: Hello. This is _____. How may I help you? Me: I would like to cancel my account. Rep: Sorry to hear that. May I please have your name and mothers maiden name to verify your identity? Me: *provides info* Rep: *gives reasons why their company is sooo fantastic and why I shouldn't cancel* Me: I just want to cancel. I don't even use your "service." Rep: *repeats info* Me: No thank you. Rep: *repeats info* Me: Please stop offering me your service. I don't want to be charged for something I can get for free elsewhere. Rep: Please hold while I cancel your account. Me: *holds* Rep: Ok your account is canceled you will receive an e-mail in a few moments verifying your cancellation. Me: Ok and I would also like a full refund of my money. Rep: We can't give you a refund. Me: Well I happen to know that this company gives refunds all the time. Rep: Please hold (probably searching through her script). Ok, I can give you a one month refund since you have had our services since March. Me: I didn't know I was going to get charged for this service. Rep: Well the charges are clearly stated 3 times on our website. Me: If they are so clearly stated then why didn't I see them? Rep: Well I can only offer you a one month refund. Me: I would like to speak to your supervisor. Rep: Please hold. Me: *holds* Rep: My supervisor says you can only get a one month refund. Me: I would like to speak to your supervisor. Rep: Please hold. Me: *holds* Rep: My supervisor told me you would have to write to the Customer Relations Group to get your full refund. Me: I would like to SPEAK, one on one, to your supervisor. Rep: Please hold. Me: *holds* Supervisor: Hello my name is ____. How may I help you? Me: I would like a full refund. I feel your company has taken advantage of me, and many others, to make dirty money for a service which isn't even free. I also feel that the company rushed me through registration, consistently telling me I will be receiving a FREE credit report. This was a flat out LIE so I would like my money back. Please. Supervisor: You will have to write to the Customer Relations Group at this address... *Luke grabs the phone and argues with the lady, then hands it back to me.* Supervisor: I can't help you now. Here is the address you need to write (yes, snail mail) and they will help you. *I get the information and hang up* And that's how it went. The representative tried to get me to keep this bullshit service and I had to ask multiple times to TALK with a supervisor. After that phone call, I made the decision NOT to write to this "Customer Relations Group" as I have heard it is a waste of time. Instead, I reported them to the Better Business Bureau. And the FTC. And my credit card company. My credit card company canceled my card, will be sending another new card with a new account number, and I will be able to request the unauthorized charges be refunded through my credit card company. Today, Luke had an interview with Burger King. He got hired on the spot and started working today. Bad news is, we are moving into our apartment an hour away in two weeks. So he gets to quit pretty soon. Ha ha. Off to play WoW. - Beckie
